The Skeletal System
The main purpose of the skeletal system is to provides the “framework” of the body. The Skeletal System also protects key organs (Heart, Lungs, Brain, etc.). Also, inside of a bone there is something called bone marrow. Inside of the bone marrow, Erythrocytes (Red Blood Cells), Leukocytes (White Blood Cells), and Thrombocytes (Platelets) are produced. The Skeletal System works with the Circulatory System to maintain homeostasis by keeping the count of Erythrocytes, Leukocytes, and Thrombocytes at a good level and producing more if needed. It also helps protect the Heart so that it won't get crushed if it is lightly tapped.
